The Kemper Foundation is a Public Benefit Organization established in the Netherlands since 1993 with the aim of promoting development activities at grassroots level in the Sahel, Senegal in particular. The programs are oriented towards small-scale projects that fully meet the needs and requirements formulated locally in Africa.
Our main project: integration and functional literacy of the deaf
Deaf children in the Sahel generally don’t have a chance. The Kemper Foundation has been active for years, together with the local people involved, in helping deaf children escape their isolation. We provide lessons in sign language, reading, writing and arithmetic. Attention is also paid to cultural development and the integration of deaf people into society. Our program for the deaf has currently reached more than 700 children with our own original method, in about 30 Foyers (small learning centers for the deaf) spread across Senegal, managed by parents of the children involved. Since 2003, approximately 90 monitors of deaf have been trained by us. There are currently more applications for the establishment of these centers. We would like to respond to these requests. Help us!
