This project focuses mainly on strengthening small libraries (also for young people) to find books after learning to read. They find it in a so-called “Community learning Center” that is selflessly managed by a UNESCO club. Furthermore, other social\/cultural events that are of local importance are also organized. The Kemper Foundation and partners have paid the costs of so-called reading boxes, the purchase of new books and the remuneration of an administrator.<\/p>\n
Functional addition to national primary education<\/strong><\/p>\n Since the 1990s, governments and NGOs invested heavily in literacy, especially women. This was done, among other things, in Community learning Centers. Short courses can be given here in which small groups of adults refresh their knowledge, learn to meet, listen, take notes and make realistic plans based on local circumstances.<\/p>\n Promotional activities aimed at society and the environment<\/strong><\/p>\n We continue to focus on strengthening the connection between school lessons and local reality. Learning is a process that must continue throughout life in order to make the best decisions. Through exhibitions we help people, government and private organizations involved in daily life and the development of the local environment. For example, the UNESCO club in Thionck-Essyl (Casamance) worked together with local schools, governments and interested parties on an exhibition about the environment.
